Jibarra - Brunch

What is a man and his dog to do when the lady of the house is out of town? The answer of course is have an epic Sunday brunch. The brunch choices ran through my head, almost overwhelming my cerebral cortex. Then randomly, or maybe Tebow-vention, I found a review for Jibarra's "royal brunch." Yogurt, coffee, entree, and dessert, all for 18 bucks. Royal brunch? More like epic brunch.

Yogurt
The first thing I noticed once the yogurt came out was its consistency. A very milky and soupy yogurt. Not something that I was expecting but I enjoyed the vanilla flavor from the yogurt while digging to find the hidden treasures of granola and fruit buried underneath.

Huevos Ranchos
Talking to the bartender about the brunch menu, she commented on that the new addition to the menu were, a much requested, huevos ranchos. Initially intrigued about the new menu item, I ordered the ranchos. After I placed the order, I started having buyer's regret. I thought I've should've ordered something more daring or original. Despite my second guessing,  Huevo Rachos did not disappoint. Perfectly done eggs nested under flavorful beans and a crispy corn tortilla. The marriage of peppers and egg yoke were a wonderful mix of savory with sprinkles of heat. The rice was cooked properly but I'd wish it was more incorporated into the dish rather than on the side.

Pan De Natas
In the grand finale of this epic brunch was the pan de natas dessert. The butter-cream bread custard had a perfect texture. Slight crispy outside with a soft inside. The homemade ice cream scooped on top cloves and cinnamon were the star of the dessert. Together the three ingredients created a Voltron of amazing dessert.

Completely satisfied with my epic brunch I returned home to complete my bachelor weekend of football and beer for breakfast.

The Jibarra bunch is definitely a long-haul meal. Not sure if you tried the mimosa add-on but it's a must-do...
